The short version:
- This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or tracking pixels.
- We only collect personal information you choose to give us: when you call, text, email, request service or bring your vehicle in.
- We use it to service your vehicle and communicate with you. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it for advertising.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Northern Autoworks, LLC ("Northern Autoworks," "we," "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information. It applies to our website at northernautoworks.com and www.northernautoworks.com (the "Website") and to information we collect when you contact us or use our automotive maintenance, service and repair services (together, our "Services").
Northern Autoworks, LLC is located at 70 Walnut Avenue, North Hampton, NH 03862, and is the party responsible for your personal information.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
We collect information you choose to provide when you contact us, request an appointment or do business with us. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
- Contact details: your name, phone number, email address and mailing address.
- Vehicle information: year, make, model, vehicle identification number (VIN), license plate, mileage, and the condition of the vehicle.
- Service information: the problems you describe, warning lights or fault codes, estimates, work authorizations, repair orders, invoices and service history.
- Appointment details: your preferred dates and times and any notes you include with your request.
- Payment information: when you pay for Services, the payment method and transaction details. Card payments are processed by our payment processor. We do not store full payment card numbers.
- Communications: the content of calls, text messages and emails you exchange with us.
Information collected automatically when you visit the Website
The Website does not use cookies, analytics tools, advertising networks, tracking pixels, session recording or similar technologies, and it does not create a profile of your visit.
Like every website, the Website is delivered by servers that receive basic technical information needed to send pages to your browser. This includes your IP address, browser type, device type, the page requested and the date and time of the request. This information is handled by our hosting and font providers as described in Section 5. We do not use it to identify you.
Information from others
If someone else, such as a family member, employer or another repair shop, contacts us about your vehicle, they may give us information about you and your vehicle. We may also receive vehicle information from parts suppliers or manufacturer technical resources when we look up parts, specifications or service procedures for your vehicle.
3. How the service request form works
When you press "Request Service," the information you entered (your name, the phone number and/or email address you choose to give, vehicle, requested service, preferred drop-off date and description) is sent securely to Web3Forms, a form-delivery service, which forwards it as an email to info@northernautoworks.com. The Website itself does not store your request. If the request cannot be delivered this way, the form instead opens the email app on your own device with a pre-filled message to info@northernautoworks.com, and nothing is sent until you press send.
To fill the Model and Engine lists for Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche vehicles, your browser requests vehicle lists directly from fueleconomy.gov, a website of the U.S. Department of Energy. Those requests include only the year, make and model you select, plus the technical information every web request carries, such as your IP address. They do not include your name or contact details.
When you send a request, our own server also uses your vehicle's year, make, model and engine, and your description of the problem, to look up repair-reference information for our technicians. Only the year, make and model are used to search that reference source; your name, contact details and description are never sent to it.
4. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your calls, texts, emails and appointment requests;
- schedule, perform and document maintenance, diagnostic and repair work on your vehicle;
- prepare estimates, obtain your authorization for work, and order the correct parts;
- contact you about your vehicle, including updates, questions about additional work, and when your vehicle is ready;
- process payments and keep business, accounting and tax records;
- handle warranty claims, recalls brought to our attention, and questions about past work;
- keep our premises, Website and systems secure and prevent fraud;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights, including our Terms & Conditions.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not send marketing messages. Text messages from us relate only to your inquiry, appointment or vehicle.
5. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising. We share personal information only as follows:
- Service providers who help us run our business and only use your information to provide services to us, including:
- Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts and delivers the Website and protects it against attacks;
- Google LLC, which provides the Google Fonts typefaces used on the Website. When a page loads, your browser requests the fonts from Google's servers, which receive your IP address and browser information. Google states that Google Fonts does not set cookies;
- Web3Forms, which delivers service requests submitted on the Website to our email inbox;
- SiteGround, which hosts our email;
- our phone and text-messaging carrier, our payment processor, and our accounting and business software providers.
- Government vehicle data: the vehicle lists on our service request form are loaded from fueleconomy.gov (U.S. Department of Energy), as described in Section 3. We do not send your personal details to it.
- Parts suppliers and vehicle manufacturers, limited to vehicle details such as your VIN where needed to order the right parts, look up specifications or process warranty and recall work.
- People you authorize, such as someone you ask to pick up your vehicle or discuss its repair with us.
- Legal and safety reasons: when required by law, subpoena, court order or other legal process; to protect the rights, property or safety of Northern Autoworks, our customers or others; or to collect amounts owed.
- Business transfers: if Northern Autoworks is sold, merged or reorganized, customer records may be transferred to the new owner, who must continue to protect them in line with this policy.
6. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy. Repair orders, invoices and related service records are kept for as long as needed to support warranty claims, answer questions about past work, and meet tax, accounting and other legal requirements. Emails, texts and appointment requests that do not lead to work on your vehicle are deleted when they are no longer needed. When we no longer need information, we delete it or securely destroy it.
7. How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information. These include encrypted (HTTPS) connections for the Website, access to customer records limited to staff who need it, and secure storage of paper records at the shop. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send payment card numbers by email or text message.
8. Your choices and rights
No matter where you live, you can ask us to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete your personal information, except records we must keep by law or need for warranty, tax, accounting or legal purposes;
- stop text messages or emails from us. Reply STOP to any text message or tell us by phone or email.
To make a request, contact us using the details in Section 13. We will need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, usually by matching the name, phone number or vehicle details on file. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof that the agent is authorized. We will respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why and may extend that period once by up to 45 more days where the law allows. We will not charge you or treat you differently for making a request.
If we decline your request, we will explain why. You may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing info@northernautoworks.com with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line, and we will respond to your appeal within 60 days. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may contact the New Hampshire Department of Justice, Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau.
9. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Because the Website does not track visitors or sell or share personal information for advertising, there is nothing for Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals to switch off. We treat these signals as a valid request to opt out of any sale or targeted advertising, which we do not do anyway.
10. Children's privacy
The Website and our Services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Links and third-party services
The Website contains phone, text and email links that open apps on your device, loads fonts from Google, loads vehicle lists from fueleconomy.gov, and delivers service requests through Web3Forms. Those apps and services are operated by third parties under their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make a material change to how we use or share personal information, we will post a notice on the Website before the change takes effect.
